What does your job involve in a typical day?

I am involved in a variety of activities. This ranges from doing promotional analysis on past product promotions, to working on specific projects. For example, I have recently been involved in the Mr. Kipling sponsorship of Comic Relief. This has exposed me to advertising as Mr. Kipling developed a specific ad campaign for the event. I also work with agencies that we use to design new packaging and market research agencies, which carry out specific pieces of research.

What do you like most about your job?

The diversity of the job is highly attractive. Each day brings a new set of challenges to tackle, which I find demanding but ultimately rewarding.

What skills are required in your job?

Good analytical skills for understanding data are essential. Good interpersonal skills are also fundamental, as you will be liaising and presenting information to different people across the business on a regular basis.

How many people work for you?

None

What is your advice to people looking for a career in the food and grocery industry?

It’s a dynamic industry with opportunities in a vast sphere of areas. Think about and research in detail, the sphere you want to work in e.g. manufacturing, distribution, and retailing as they all differ.

Go for it!!
